Our process
Take a peek behind the shutters at our factory in Northumberland, where we design, print, bind and finish our collection.
-
Print
It begins with the finest sheets of paper we can source, which are then printed on an offset litho press.
-
Fold
These sheets are then folded into 16-page booklets known as signatures.
-
Sew
Signatures are then collated and sewn to create book blocks.
-
Bind
The book blocks are then clamped to compress the signatures and hand glued.
-
Deboss
The back cover board is then debossed with the Pith logo.
-
Tab
Our fabric tab is applied to the inside of the back cover.
-
Cover
The book blocks are then passed through glue rollers and the covers are applied by hand.
-
Trim
To achieve our crisp edges we trim the books to size using a guillotine.
-
Wrap
Finally, your book is signed by its maker, wrapped and packed ready to be shipped to you.
-
Desk Meadow
How could we forget our Desk Meadow! Our secret meadow mix is slung into a glassine bag, crimped then folded.
